My Wellness Journey
Hi, my name is Marti.  Actually, my given name is Martha.  When I was in school I was constantly teased about having an "old lady" name.  I was called Martha Washington.  That's when I started not wanting to be considered Old!  I got name nickname of Marti in high school. I was so grateful not to have an "old" name.  In fact, in college I got the nickname "Party Marti" mainly because it rhymed.

I have been one of those people to try new hairstyles.  In fact, I have been known to go into my stylist and say "I want something new, but don't want to look my age", but I didn't want to look like I was trying to be young. I have tried the newest trends to hide wrinkles to not look my age.  It's funny that the products never seemed to work well on me.  I never seemed to get the results I was expecting.

Then my Mom had some serious health issues.  For a while my sister and I would take turns spending the night with her in the hospital so that Mom would always have an advocate there.  After my sister went back to work, I was the one staying in the hospital, only leaving to shower and change clothes.  I saw up close and personal the problems with health decline.  After my Mom passed, I was in a deep depression for months.  Finally, I decided that I needed to change my life in order to not have a similar decline as Mom.  My husband and I joined a gym and began working out with a trainer once a week.  Almost seven years later and we are still working with a trainer.  My husband loves working out.  In fact, he has over 1,700 days of doing a workout.  Me, not so much.  I haven't come to love it, in fact at times I have to talk myself into working out. But I continue on because I want to keep moving.  I want to be a feisty lady who can walk on her own two feet. To do that I need to make sure my joints and core stays strong.

I have searched for more natural methods for healing and staying healthy.  Through chiropractic care, I learned to try to get to the root cause of an issue instead of taking a pill to address symptoms. That's not to say all pills are bad.  I just want to try other methods first.  I discovered that my chronic stuffiness and cough where due to the food I was eating.  Once I eliminated certain foods, I did not have the issues continuing to plague me.

I also discovered essential oils from my hair stylist.  She introduced me to Thieves as a way to support my immune system.    I thought at first this may turn out to be another one of those new fads that don't work well.  I was wrong.  The main reason is due to the Seed to Seal commitment from Young Living.  I found out that there is a difference between pure oil and those labeled pure.  In fact, an essential oil can have as little as only 5% of the oil in the bottle and still be labeled pure.  I have also found skin care products that truly have brought the natural glow and vibrancy back to my skin.  Please follow along with me.  I can help you age gracefully through wellness.
